Introduction:
The District Planing Unit, Shi Yomi under the establishment of the Deputy Commissioner, is headed by District Planning Officer (G-A-Gazetted), and assisted by one Senior Research Assistant (G-B-Gazetted), one L.D.C., one driver and one contingency peon. Basically, the main function of the department is to monitor implementation of various developmental schemes in the district both funded under State Plans as well as of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and also to coordinate in plan formulation works of other departments.

Among-st others, the schemes under following major program are being implemented through this department: –
- Border Area Development Program (BADP).
- Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
- Members of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Scheme(MLALADS).
- Untied Fund.
